Choosing The Right Food For Your Special Event

Are you organizing a special event? If yes, take into
consideration that the menu is very important. Food is
present in every occasion because it usually communicates
a theme, conveys a feeling or sets the mood of a whole
night. If, for example, you are organizing a high-class
extravaganza, you cannot have hot dogs and beer to eat. On
the other hand, they may be appropriate for a birthday
party at a park. Your guests will appreciate if you have
spend a lot of time preparing the menu for the event and a
great meal can be of great help to make a particular day
even more memorable.

In the case you are organizing a birthday party for one of
your children, you could choose an interactive meal.
Apart from eating your guests may also have fun. Instead
of spending a lot of time in the kitchen cooking or a lot
of money buying already made food, you can save both time
and money by making the guests do their own individual
creations. A very good idea is to plan a multitude of
toppings and then let your childs friends make their own
English muffin pizzas or bagel. This way the children will
feel as they are grown ups cooking for themselves.

For a more formal occasion like a holiday party, finger
foods can be great for mingling guests, and they can be
great topics of conversation. The obligatory finger
sandwich can be spiced up by adding your own special
pesto or cheese spread to an already tried and true
recipe. Experiment with different ingredients in the
weeks prior to the party, and test them out on your
family. You will know when you get the reaction you are
looking for, and you might end up spending much of the
party writing down your recipe for your guests.

A wedding is another situation that needs to be well
planned regarding the menu. This issue can be quite
nerve-racking, in particular when you do not know for sure
how many guests will be at the event. This is the way to
go: having extra food is better that not having enough.
This could mean lot of food left over at the end of the
night, but believe me, this is better that been ashamed in
front of all your guests. Your options can be a
buffet-style dinner, or an already set menu for your
guests. It is very imperative to think about your guests
with special nutritional needs. Make sure you have
low-sodium, vegetarian and heart-healthy menus as an
alternative to your main courses. Besides, it will be
great to have a different menu for those who do not want
to eat foods with high fat contents.

Previous to attempting a major meal, it will be important
for you to make all of the dishes more than a few times
until you know your recipes are just perfect. Remember
that your purpose is to have guests who ask for more even
after it all runs out. Test your own new creations on a
diversity of friends and people and adjustment them
according to what they say about them. Each time you cook
a recipe of your own authorship remember to maintain the
fine points for that is what makes them special. Besides,
if you do it, when something turns out horrible you will
know exactly what went wrong, and more important of all,
you will know what went right when everybody tell you how
wonderful the food was.

Planning portions is the most important part of catering
your own party. Though most recipes tell you how many
people they will feed, it is best to err on the side of
caution. If a recipe feeds eight, you might want to
count it as six or seven, depending on how many guests
you expect. Plan that half of your guests will want to
go back for seconds. If you know that one dish will be
a favorite, be sure to make extra. Though the green
beans may be the healthier option, you can usually bet
that the cheesecake will go a lot quicker. Keep in mind
that the greater the variety, the more people you will
please, so even if you are a steamed vegetable lover,
you should probably prepare some beefy options for your
less than health conscious guests.
